God is there when we feel alone

BY JAQUElYN ZOINE

Have you ever felt alone? Have you ever felt unloved? Have you ever felt like nobody understood you? I have. I can almost guarantee everyone at one point or another has felt something like these emotions. How did you get through it? Mourning? Crying? Cussing? I prayed. You may think how ironic, that a girl who’s alone, unloved, and misunderstood would pray to God. God is always there for you and me. He will find the answers you are longing to find, He will carry you through the tough times, and He will always love you.

I have been raised Catholic since birth. I am not the holiest or most religious Catholic out there. I make and continue to make countless sins, and God doesn’t love me less for that. Adults tend to think a teenager’s life is easy, how we have no stress, but honestly sometimes we feel like we are carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders and that we are going through it alone. Being raised to believe God is always with me, I imagine myself carrying the world and then God carrying me. Being Catholic is like being a part of something that you can never shake.

As a Catholic, you are a member of something; you’re never alone. Someone is always there for you to make things better. When everything may seem like it is going wrong, Jesus is feeling your burden as well. The Catholic Church is like a huge family: the people within get in fights and love each other the same as a family would. I am grateful to be Catholic — to know that someone always loves me and someone is always proud of me and wouldn’t mind listening to my problems when I am feeling weary.

I am a follower of God.
