Sister Sarita entered the IHM congregation on February 2, 1941 and made her temporary profession of vows on August 2, 1943 and her final profession of vows on August 2, 1946.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE — Sister Mary Carissima, 90, born Mary MacKay, died Nov. 7 at the motherhouse of the Congregation of the Infant Jesus (Nursing Sisters of the Sick Poor) here after a short illness. She was in her 56th year of religious life.

Sister Mary Carissima ministered for 15 years at Mercy Hospital here as staff nurse, head nurse, and hospital supervisor between 1961-66 and 1968-78. She obtained her BSN in 1968 and her master’s degree in business administration in 1978, both from Adelphi University.
