St. Anthony’s, Kellenberg take track and field championships

On a picture-perfect spring day, more than 1,000 student-athletes from nine Long Island Catholic high schools gathered May 19 at St. Anthony’s High School, South Huntington, to compete in the diocesan CHSAA outdoor track and field championships. St. Anthony’s (113.5 points) won its fourth consecutive boys’ team title, finishing ahead of Chaminade, Mineola (79.5), and St. John the Baptist, West Islip (46). St. Mary’s, Manhasset (60), topped St. Dominic, Oyster Bay (36), in the small schools’ standings. In the girls’ competition, Kellenberg Memorial, Uniondale (119), won its first outdoor championship since 2009, finishing in front of St. Anthony’s (81) and St. John the Baptist (54). Our Lady of Mercy Academy, Syosset (65) topped St. Mary’s (16) for the small schools’ crown.
