More than 500 teenagers and young adults from parishes, high schools and colleges across Long Island joined nearly two dozen seminarians at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, Hicksville, Sept. 21, to kick off the first Holy Hour for Vocations of the academic year. The event, sponsored by the diocesan vocations office, featured eucharistic adoration, contemporary Christian music, and opportunities for confession. Following the service, participants gathered at the parish school for dinner and dodgeball games. The Holy Hours are scheduled for the third Friday of each month through next May. Below, Father Brian Barr, director of vocations for the diocese, places a host into a monstrance at the beginning of eucharistic adoration.
