Teddys bring cheer to kids

WEST ISLIP — Lexia Snyder, left, and Auyon Haque, patients at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, were thrilled to help the Child Life team unpack a box of beautiful and cuddly teddy bears that were sent to the hospital’s pediatric patients by the Starlight Children’s Foundation.  The Teddy Bear Program is only one of many ways that Starlight helps to make hospitalization easier for children and their families.  “Starlight collaborates with Good Samaritan’s Child Life team throughout the year on many projects, large and small, from hosting fun centers, game systems and movies, to helping fund the pediatric garden and horticultural therapy programs, making the hospital environment more comfortable and enjoyable for our youngest patients,” said Joan Alpers, director of Good Samaritan’s Child Life Program.
