Bishop Murphy confirms members of the Korean community

On Oct. 31, Bishop William Murphy conferred the sacrament of confirmation on 81 members of the Korean Apostolate at Holy Name of Jesus Church, Woodbury. The candidates, dressed in red and white robes and accompanied by their sponsors, ranged in age from 15 to 86 years. A reception featuring ethnic food followed the service in the church basement. The Korean Catholic community on Long Island has shown steady growth in recent years. Masses are celebrated weekly in Korean at Holy Name of Jesus and at St. Aloysius Church in Great Neck.
